OHE’s Professor Nancy Devlin and Koonal Shah have both been appointed to serve on the Valuation Working Group of the EuroQol Research Foundation.

OHE’s Professor Nancy Devlin and Koonal Shah have both been appointed to serve on the Valuation Working Group of the EuroQol Research Foundation, a not-for-profit network of international, multilingual, multidisciplinary researchers that developed the EQ-5D instrument. The EuroQol Research Foundation seeks to improve decisions about health and health care throughout the world by developing, promoting and supporting the use of instruments for the measurement and valuation of health. Its Valuation Working Group focuses on developing health state valuation methods and coordinating international initiatives using data collected in valuation studies.

OHE has been involved in a number of recently published journal articles which report the findings of EuroQol-related research. These include:
  • a paper in Quality of Life Research [open access] which assesses the performance of the EQ-VAS in the NHS, authored by OHE’s Yan Feng and colleagues;
  • a paper in Medical Care [open access] which reports a study investigating the feasibility of using discrete choice experiments to value EQ-5D-5L health states;
  • a series of papers published in a special issue of the European Journal of Health Economics [open access], co-edited by Nancy Devlin and Paul Krabbe (University of Groningen).

The EuroQol Research Foundation is sponsoring a symposium at the ISPOR 20th Annual International Meeting in Philadelphia in May. The symposium will present insights from the ‘An EQ-5D-5L value set for England’ study, which was led by OHE and University of Sheffield.
