The Office of Health Economics has developed and run a model for the ABPI to project UK NHS expenditure on medicines. On 2 July, the ABPI released its projections for UK NHS medicines spending in the years to 2015 based on our model. The results project that the total UK medicines bill is likely to grow by an average of around 3.7% per year over the period 2011 to 2015; within that sales of branded medicines are expected to grow only by around 1.3% per year on average.
