Dan Ollendorf is Chief Scientific Officer and Director of HTA Methods and Engagement at the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER). An internationally recognized expert in health technology assessment (HTA), Dan’s research interests include expanding the use of HTA and economic evaluation in low- and middle-income settings (particularly rapidly-growing economies), as well as refinement and use of value assessment tools in the US and other high-income settings. Prior to joining CEVR, Dan was Chief Scientific Officer at the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER) for over 10 years, where he was responsible for the conduct of systematic reviews of the comparative effectiveness of high impact health care technologies, integration of decision analysis and budgetary impact modeling into reviews of clinical evidence, engagement and collaboration with multiple stakeholders, and coordination as well as scientific oversight of the broader health technology assessment process. His 30 years of health care experience also include work in the hospital, informatics, insurance, managed care, and consulting sectors.
Dan holds a Ph.D. in clinical epidemiology from the University of Amsterdam, a Master’s of Public Health from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Rochester. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles in major journals, and has presented widely on HTA and cost-effectiveness topics. Dan currently serves on the Medicare Evidence Development and Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC), the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) HTA Council Working Group, and is the Chair of the Health Technology Assessment International (HTAi) Global Policy Forum.
