Economic analysis has been central to decision-making in human health for decades. The same cannot be said for animal health. Let’s discuss.
About this event:
Economic analysis has been central to decision-making in human health and health care for decades. The same cannot be said for animal health. This webinar will consider the question ‘Do we need animal health economics?’ The speakers will explore the extent to which animal health care markets are functioning well – for humans and for animals – while acknowledging the challenge of meaningfully interpreting markets across agriculture, wildlife, and companion animals. Despite this complexity, the speakers will identify some of the ways in which the health economics discipline may contribute to improving the situation. In particular, there is scope for health economists to transfer their skills in health measurement and frameworks for decision-making to the animal health context.
