Meindert is a highly respected expert in the field of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) with more than 25 years’ experience in the field. Before starting as an independent advisor, Meindert was director of the health technology evaluation programmes at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), and deputy Chief Executive Officer.
In his role as director, Meindert was a member of the unitary Board of NICE, responsible as executive director for the delivery of the programmes that together form the centre for health technology evaluation. Leading more than 250 members of staff and 200+ committee members across drugs, devices, diagnostics, and digital technology evaluation. Meindert finished his 20 years at NICE as Head of International Affairs.
Meindert held the position of director in the board of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research ISPOR between 2017-2020. Meindert is the chair of Health Technology Assessment International’s (HTAi’s) Global Policy Forum for the period 2024-27.
Meindert trained as a pharmacist in the Netherlands and holds an MSc in Health Policy Planning and Financing from the London School of Economics and Political Science and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
