Reimagining Prevention for a Healthier, More Prosperous Society
Prevention is a key strategy for improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities. This webinar will discuss the key recommendations for mobilising the agenda, as outlined in the OHE prevention report.
Despite evidence of the substantial value of prevention, there are still significant barriers to the prevention agenda. Of total NHS funding, only 5% per year was allocated to preventative care between 2013 and 2019 (ONS, 2022).
This webinar built on the recommendations made in the OHE report: Reimagining Prevention for a Healthier, More Prosperous Society. The expert panel shared their insights from a range of perspectives to discuss the strategies that could usher in a new era of optimised prevention. The webinar concluded with a Q&A session where the audience can direct their questions to the panel.

Clare Perkins
Clare Perkins is Deputy Director for Personalised Prevention at the Department of Health and Social Care. Clare is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health, registered as a Public Health Specialist, and has over 25 years’ experience working in the NHS, Academia and the Civil Service, at local, regional and national levels.
Dilruwan Herath
Dilruwan Herath is the UK Executive Medical Director at MSD, an accomplished medical affairs leader with 16 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. He is passionate about delivering transformational, industry-leading clinical change and securing patient access to lifesaving medicines through effective medical affairs. He also has over 4 years of experience as a physician for the NHS.
Hannah Davies
Hannah Davis is the Executive Director & Head of External Affairs and leads the Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA)’s health inequalities programme. The NHSA is a northern body working at a national and international level for the health and wealth benefit of Northern England. Hannah has also co-authored several seminal reports, including the recent “A Year of Covid19 in the North of England”.
Grace Hampson
Grace Hampson, Associate Director at OHE, is an economist with expertise in value assessment, reimbursement and healthcare decision making. She is one of the authors of the OHE Prevention report.
