- Full Description
- As part of OHE’s involvement in the research project “Assessing the Economic Benefits from Medical Research in the UK”, funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC), the Wellcome Trust, and the Academy of Medical Sciences, OHE carried a literature review on the topic of R&D spillovers from medical research including the importance of investment in medical research to attracting R&D and related economic activity to a country. OHE’s preliminary findings were written up as a Working Paper by Jorge Mestre-Ferrandiz, Martina Garau and Jon Sussex, with the title “R&D spillovers: do they exist, and if so, does medical research expenditure in the UK generate them?” The paper was accepted and discussed at the Health Economics Study Group (January 2008).
