Conference

The final conference of the European Commission funded HealthBASKET project took place in Berlin on 22nd/23rd February 2007. The focus of this international meeting was on the findings of the project on provision of health care services and their costs by the health care systems of 9 EU member states. Jon Sussex acted as discussant for the session on the relationship between costs and prices for inpatient care in Europe. His presentation highlighted the nonlinearity of hospital costs and the importance of joint and common costs, leading to economies of scope in provision of hospital services
