Deputy Director - Jon Sussex MA MSc
Jon joined the OHE in 1997 as its Associate Director, his areas of expertise include efficiency and incentives in the NHS, the regulation of the pharmaceutical industry, health care expenditure and the role of the private sector in the NHS (including the Private Finance Initiative).
Before joining the OHE he worked for Deloitte & Touche Consulting and SDC Consulting as a management consultant specialising in health care and regulatory economics where his projects included retail pharmacy, OTC medicines, nurse prescribing, strategic planning and major capital project work for numerous NHS organisations. Prior to that he worked as an economist at the Department of Energy, on industry regulation and policy issues for the UK's utility services before becoming the Economic Adviser on Health and Personal Social Services at HM Treasury. Here, he was a member of the small team reviewing the NHS prior to the publication of the 1989 White Paper Working for Patients.
Jon is an Honorary Visiting Fellow at the University of York Department of Economics and Related Studies.
